Pitt (3-1) opens their ACC schedule in Week 5, while the Yellow Jackets have already played two ACC games. They lost on the road to Clemson 14-8 in Week 3, then beat North Carolina last week at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Jackets quarterback Jeff Sims stole the show vs. the Tar Heels, rushing for 128 yards and three touchdowns while also completing 10-of-13 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett ranks sixth in the FBS in passing yards, while receiver Jordan Addison ranks 12th in receiving yards and is tied for the FBS lead with eight receiving touchdowns.

Why Pitt Could Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowPickett leads Pitt to one of the most explosive passing attacks in the entire country. The Panthers rank fourth in passing yards per game through Week 4. Pickett has 15 touchdowns (to just one interception), which is tied for second in FBS. Slowing down the Pitt passing game is no easy task, and with the spread just being three points, they may not struggle to cover at all if they're able to get in rhythm. They already have a road win at Tennessee this season.
Georgia Tech does rank in the top-25 in pass defense so far this season, and put tons of pressure on North Carolina standout quarterback Sam Howell last week. Howell did throw for over 300 yards in the loss, but was under duress for much of the game and got sacked eight times. Tech has just two combined sacks the rest of the season, however, so maybe Pitt can give Pickett time to find his receivers against a solid Yellow Jacket secondary.
Why Georgia Tech Could Cover The Spread
Jeff Sims is a complete wild card at QB. The only game Georgia Tech didn't cover this season was their opener vs. Northern Illinois when Sims got injured and left the game in the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets are a completely different team without the dual-threat Sims on the field, and their offense lacked an explosive element without him. That all changed last week when Sims returned to the lineup, helping fuel Georgia Tech to 45 points and a surprising victory over the Tar Heels, who were 15-point favorites. A strong running back group gives the Yellow Jackets a potentially dangerous rushing attack. Georgia Tech is 3-1 vs. the spread this season, and has covered in their last three contests.
Final Pitt-Georgia Tech Prediction & Pick
Georgia Tech was awesome last week, but it was just one game. Their offense has been inconsistent this season, while Pitt's has been anything but. The Jackets may keep this one close, but ride with the Panthers to cover a 3-point spread in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon.
