The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels meet for Game 2 of this 3-game series! It's time to continue our MLB odds series with an Angels-Yankees prediction and pick.
The Yankees took the first game of the series 9-1 after a fast start from the offense. The Yankees got to Noah Syndergaard in the first inning as they scored four runs and then another in the second. Thor got hammered in his return to New York. On the other side, Jordan Montgomery pitched a gem as he tossed seven innings allowing just four hits and one run. His ERA is down to 3.04 on the season as the southpaw is making a name for himself this season. Game 2 should be a good one.

Why The Angels Could Cover The Spread
The Angels are sending out rookie Reid Detmers, who is known for his no-hitter earlier in the season. The southpaw is (2-2) o the year with a 4.65 ERA in 40.2 innings. His road ERA, on the other hand, is 8.49 … so he might have a tough time against this elite Yankees lineup. The good news for Detmers is slugger Giancarlo Stanton is still on the IL.
The Angels can cover this spread because they still contain Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani who could be the top two players in all of baseball. Those two are playing very well as usual. Trout is batting .302 with 13 home runs and is slugging .636. Ohtani is batting .249 but has 11 home runs and a team-leading 32 RBIs. Taylor Ward and Matt Duffy are also hitting the ball well this season. If those two can give Trout and Ohtani more support, this lineup will be in a great spot for when Anthony Rendon returns from the IL.
Why The Yankees Could Cover The Spread
The Yankees are sending out rising star Nestor Cortes. The lefty is dominating this season and is quickly becoming a fan favorite in the Big Apple. Mighty Nestor is (4-1) on the year with a 1.70 ERA. His ERA is tied for second behind Justin Verlander and his 0.85 WHIP is third in baseball. If Cortes goes out there and pitches well again, then the Yankees should have zero issues covering this spread in the Bronx.
This right-handed dominant lineup is excited to be facing a southpaw today. Aaron Judge is playing like an MVP candidate right now with 18 home runs and 38 RBS. Gleyber Torres, D.J. LeMahieu, and Josh Donaldson should all be a factor today as they will be looking to do damage. So far this season, though, Judge has been the entire offense for the Yankees.
Anthony Rizzo, who is a lefty, is not playing too well right now after a hot start to the year. If he can get his game going, then the Yankees might be unstoppable.
Final Angels-Yankees Prediction & Pick
This game seems to be in favor of the Yankees. They are capable of winning this game by at least two runs with how well the offense is playing. I expect Cortes to keep the Angels at a halt tonight and so take the Yankees to cover this spread at home. With the odds where they are at right now, this is a great value pick.
Final Angels-Yankees Prediction & Pick: New York Yankees -1.5 (+104)
