Anything goes in this thrilling upcoming American League matchup, as the Chicago White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays meet for the first time this season on Tuesday evening in the “The Six”. Without further ado, it is about that time to check out our MLB odds series, where our White Sox-Blue Jays prediction and pick will be unveiled.
At an even record of 23-23, the White Sox enter play fresh off a series-splitting decisive victory over their crosstown rival Cubs 5-4 on Sunday. It hasn't been the start Chicago has necessarily wanted coming into 2022, but that hasn't been the case for RHP Lucas Giolito, who has a 3-1 record and a 2.63 ERA thus far.
Toronto's winning streak has now reached five games, as the Blue Jays are playing their best ball of the season as the month of May is in its final hours. Tasked in trying to make it six consecutive victories will be Kevin Gausman, who has been nearly as effective as his opposing counterpart in Giolito with a 4-3 record and 2.25 ERA in nine games started.

Why The White Sox Could Cover the Spread
The White Sox's odds of covering the spread on Tuesday will certainly take a hit with their best hitting player in SS Tim Anderson sitting out with a right groin injury. Other contributors from the plate, mound, and even managerially in the dugout will have to string together a sense of cohesiveness in order for them to come out on top against the surging Blue Jays. Anderson is batting a nonsensical .356 on the year and also five home runs in the Chicago lead-0ff spot in the lineup.
With their top star's absence coming at the start of a six-game road trip, what names will step up and fill the shoes that Anderson wears so well?
Without Anderson's swagger and offensive production in the lineup, the White Sox should continue to struggle, as they have scored the third-fewest runs in the league and are only slashing a .233 batting average. Not to mention, but the White Sox are expected to be missing Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert, and Yoan Moncado thanks to injuries and COVID protocol.
With the limitations on offense, the White Sox will need the very best effort from starter Lucas Giolito and the arms in the bullpen to have a chance to cover the spread. In his career against the Blue Jays, Giolito is 2-0 with a 3.22 ERA in four career starts.
The reason that the White Sox are directly at .500 points to their ability to pitch when needed, as they rank 16th in baseball with a 4.00 ERA and are allowing opposing teams to hit .243 off them.
Why The Blue Jays Could Cover the Spread
Could the Blue Jays be surging at the most perfect of times? At 27-20, the Blue Jays enter this matchup with the longest active winning streak at five games, further cementing their scorching ways over the past week or so. Coming off their first sweeping of a team on the season against the Angels, Toronto should feel very good about where they're at after a slow start to open up the season.
Baseball's lone team in Canada can beat you in many ways while out on the diamond, as they have relied on a good sense of balance throughout 47 games played to get the job done. With the Blue Jays going 3-4 against the White Sox in 2021, Toronto will be eager to end up on the winning side of things against their American League counterparts in 2022.
Coming into the season, the belief by the baseball world was that Toronto would possess one of the best offenses in the entire league. While this hasn't necessarily come into fruition as they have scored only 185 runs on the season, good for 24th in the majors, Toronto still can make a team pay at the dish.
Believe it or not, it hasn't been Guerrero Jr. or Bichette that has been the Blue Jays' best hitter, but outfielder George Springer instead. The former Astro is hitting .273 with nine round-trippers and 26 RBIs to lead Toronto.
Surprisingly, the Blue Jays' bread and butter have come from the pitching staff. With 21 quality starts from starters and a lowly 3.62 ERA, the Blue Jays have changed their team narrative into a club that can really spin the ball.
With Gausman scheduled to be on the bump especially, Toronto may in fact cover the spread in large part due to their unexpected pitching prowess.
Final White Sox-Blue Jays Prediction & Pick
On paper, the Blue Jays seem to be the better squad overall entering Tuesday night's showdown. The bruised and battered White Sox will need a tremendous showing from Lucas Giolito, and while that's possible, it is a lot of pressure to put on one player's shoulders. Toronto wins yet again and should pull away in the later frames thanks to some clutch and timely hitting down the stretch.
Final White Sox-Blue Jays Prediction & Pick: Blue Jays -1.5 (+125)
