The Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets play in an inter-conference matchup on Thursday night. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a 76ers-Nuggets prediction and pick.
The 76ers and Nuggets will matchup Thursday as the Nuggets look to keep rolling and the 76ers look to stop their losing streak. Philadelphia has lost five straight as they continue to try to get healthy. Denver is 7-1 at home this season and will look to take advantage of this matchup with a banged up 76ers team. Joel Embiid, Danny Green and Matisse Thybulle all remain out for the 76ers in addition to Ben Simmons. The Nuggets are also banged up coming into this one, as they have a few key players out including Michael Porter Jr. and Jamal Murray. Nikola Jokic is healthy for the Nuggets though, so they come in as big favorites behind their MVP.

Tobias Harris is back, and the 76ers were winning games with Harris and Seth Curry as the leading scoring options for a minute earlier this season. The 76ers have struggled to stay afloat during Embiid's extended absence, however, as they do not have Ben Simmons to lean on inside defensively. Pulling off a win in Denver will be a tough task for the 76ers on Thursday, but it is doable considering the Nuggets are also banged up. With Will Barton listed as doubtful, the Nuggets will likely be without three of their top seven players. The Nuggets have made a habit of playing short-handed though. Denver has also improved defensively this season, making this a tough spot for the 76ers. A cover is possible, but it will be difficult to come out of this one unless Harris and Curry both play really well.
Why The Nuggets Can Cover The Spread
Denver has been one of if not the best team at home in the NBA so far this season. They are +10.5 points better than their opponents per 100 possessions on their home floor this season, holding teams to under 98 points per 100 possessions. Jokic has taken another step forward defensively it seems, and not having Murray and Porter Jr. has honestly probably helped the defense as well. The Nuggets are a good pick to cover and win on their home floor Thursday as they will look to move to 8-1 in Denver this season.
