Why The Blazers Could Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowPortland will look to improve on their 2-11 road record in New Orleans on Tuesday night. The Blazers are still just 3-7 in their last ten games despite their recent two-game win streak. The Blazers are 7-14 vs. the Western Conference this season, as they have struggled all season due to injuries and just poor play in some moments. Portland still sits as the No. 10 seed in the West at 13-18 despite their poor play. A win on Tuesday should be a nice spot for Damian Lillard and company to continue their winning streak as they try to right the ship on their season.
The Blazers are 3-10 vs. the spread as the road team this season and 2-6 as road underdogs. Portland has simply underperformed this season, even by Las Vegas' standards. The Blazers are 12-19 vs. the spread overall and 4-6 in their last ten games. Portland has covered in their last two games, but before that only covered once across a seven game losing streak. Lillard's status will be the swing factor here. If he's able to go (currently questionable), the Blazers should be in good position for a cover and a win in this one.
Why The Pelicans Could Cover The Spread
New Orleans is tied for the worst record in the West so far this season at 10-21. The pelicans have been scrappy at times this season but overall have really struggled. Brandon Ingram has tried to lead the team in the absence of Zion Williamson, but has not found a ton of success in the winning department. The Pelicans are battling injuries across their roster as Kira Lewis Jr. is also sidelined.
The Pelicans have been inconsistent this season as they have a 5-9 record on their home floor. They are 8-6 against the spread at home this season, though. New Orleans has covered just twice in their last six games as Williamson continues to be sidelined with his timeline to return still muggy. New Orleans is a risky pick as a favorite on Tuesday night vs. the Blazers, who will have the best player on the floor if Lillard is able to go.
Final Blazers-Pelicans Prediction and Pick
Take the Blazers here, though check on Lillard before making your bets. If Lillard is out, the Pelicans will be favored by a bit more and this is an entirely different pick. Assuming Lillard goes, Portland should be able to get their third straight win in this one.
Final Blazers-Pelicans Prediction & Pick: Blazers +2 (-108)
