The Cleveland Cavaliers will play the Washington Wizards in an Eastern Conference matchup on Thursday. It's time continue our NBA odds series with a Cavaliers-Wizards prediction and pick.

The Cavaliers and Wizards will play on Thursday as these two clubs are headed in opposite directions. Cleveland has won seven of their last ten games despite having players in and out of NBA health and safety protocols. The Cavaliers have taken a couple of tough blows of late however to their backcourt. Ricky Rubio has torn his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season, while budding star Darius Garland has entered health and safety protocols. Washington has lost seven of their last ten and will hope Bradley Beal can rejoin the team for this one as he is listed as questionable.

Here is how FanDuel has set the Cavaliers-Wizards odds for this Thursday NBA matchup.

NBA Odds: Cavaliers-Wizards Odds

Washington Wizards -3.5 (-115)

Why The Cavaliers Could Cover The Spread

The Cavaliers will be shorthanded in the backcourt in this one with Rubio and Collin Sexton out for the season in addition to Garland being in health and safety protocols. Cleveland would lean on frontcourt players like Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley more than ever, but Allen is doubtful to return due to conditioning after being in league health and safety protocols. This leaves the Cavaliers extremely thin in this spot and a win or cover will be difficult.

Cleveland vs. the spread
Article Continues Below

The Cavaliers are an astonishing 25-7-2 vs. the spread this season, and have covered in eight of their last ten games. Cleveland is 10-3-1 vs. the spread as away underdogs and 16-6-1 as underdogs vs. the number overall. This may be a tough spot however with so many key guys out of the lineup.

Why The Wizards Could Cover The Spread

Washington will obviously have a much better chance in this one if Beal can make his return to the lineup. The Wizards may be in good position for a cover and a win either way however as Cleveland comes limping into this one without several key contributors including Darius Garland and likely Jarrett Allen, who have been their best two players this season. This is a big game for the Wizards to take advantage of, as they can use any win they can get of late. The Wizards are at risk of falling out of the race for the top-6 in the East if the losses continue to pile up.

Washington vs. the spread

The Wizards are 15-18-1 vs. the spread this season and 3-6-1 in their last ten. Washington has however covered in three of their last four games, and is 4-3 as home favorites this season. This could be a spot for another home cover vs. an undermanned Cavaliers roster.

Final Cavaliers-Wizards Prediction and Pick

Take the Wizards to cover and win in this spot. Washington should be able to take care of business in this spot if they get Beal and/or Kentavious Caldwell-Pope back out of health and safety protocols. Cleveland is missing their top three guard options and will be forced to play extremely shorthanded at the point guard position in this one. The Wizards are in a good spot for a cover here despite struggling of late.

Final Cavaliers-Wizards Prediction & Pick: Wizards -3.5 (-115)
