Why The Hornets Can Cover The Spread

Charlotte is 4-6 on the road this season, but they have been playing well of late. The Hornets have won five of their last six, though the only road win during that stretch was vs. the Memphis Grizzlies. The Wizards will present a tougher task as one of the best home teams in the NBA so far this season. LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges have powered the offense for the Hornets, and they'll need plenty of that vs. a Washington team that can light up the scoreboard. Despite being 10-8, the Hornets have a negative point differential this season. Their record may be due for some regression.

The Hornets are 10-8 against the spread this season. P.J. Washington is doubtful to return from his elbow injury.

Why The Wizards Can Cover The Spread

Washington has been really, really good on their home floor. The Wizards have a +6.2 net rating at home, while Charlotte is -4.3 on the road. Washington could be in a good spot to both win and cover vs. a younger Hornets roster that has allowed over 110 points per 100 possessions this season. Bradley Beal and Spencer Dinwiddie should present problems for what has been a below average defense for the Hornets this season. They have offered little resistance at times on the defensive end, and will need to have one of their better nights to beat the Wizards on the road.

The Wizards are 9-5 vs. the Eastern Conference this season, and will look to pick up their 12th win of the season on Monday vs. the Hornets.

Davis Bertans is questionable for the Wizards, if he's able to go that would provide them with one of their best shooters back available off the bench. The Wizards are 10-6 vs. the spread this season.

Final Hornets-Wizards Prediction & Pick

Take the Wizards to cover and win over a young Hornets team on Monday. Washington has been great at home, while Charlotte has been underwhelming on the road. The veteran Wizards should be able to take care of business on their home floor Monday evening.
