Both of these teams are really struggling right now. The New York Knicks are (24-28) on the season and are coming off of a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies last time out. The Los Angeles Lakers are just a half-game ahead of the Knicks at (25-28) on the season. LA is coming off of a loss to the LA Clippers by one point. Anthony Davis had a chance to win the game in the final seconds but the ball swirled in and out of the rim as time expired. LeBron James missed the game against the Clippers and will miss this game against the Knicks as well.

Why The Knicks Could Cover The Spread

New York will have a chance to cover this spread tonight as James and Carmelo Anthony won't be playing for LA. The Knicks will need to focus on containing AD and Russell Westbrook. Another name to focus on is Malik Monk, who is shooting the ball very well for the Lakers over the past few weeks. Those three combined for 68 points in the loss against the Clippers so they will likely be the Lakers' top options once again. The Knicks are just 11-13 in road games this season. LA is 16-12 at home and so the Lakers will have the edge in that category. Back in late November, the Knicks and Lakers met with NY winning by six points. NY will need to see Evan Fornier play well once again as he did against the Lakers the first time, scoring 24 points. The Knicks desperately need Julius Randle to improve his play to get the Knicks back on track.

Why The Lakers Could Cover The Spread

This won't be an easy spread for the Lakers to cover. They come in as favorites at home which is the right call, but that is only because the Knicks haven't been on their game lately either. The Lakers have improved their defense over the last few weeks as they are allowing fewer points per game over their last 10 games. Instead of them averaging over 115 per game, they lowered it to now allowing just 107 points. That doesn't seem like a lot, but it is when you look at the defensive players on this team. Most of them are very good defenders so it was crazy to see them even allowing such poor defensive performances. If AD, Westbrook, and Monk all show up tonight and play well, then the Lakers should be in a position to cover this spread.

Final Knicks-Lakers Prediction & Pick

This is a tough pick to make considering LeBron James is out for the Lakers. I still feel as if they will play well at home and have a chance to cover. Take the Lakers are home here as they should bounce back here against the struggling Knicks.

Final Knicks-Lakers Prediction & Pick: Lakers -2.5 (-110)
