The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks play in an inter-conference battle on Tuesday. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Lakers-Knicks prediction and pick.

The Lakers and Knicks will play in Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. LeBron James is suspended for one game, so barring an appeal he will miss this game. Los Angeles beat the Detroit Pistons on Sunday after James was ejected for an altercation with Isaiah Stewart.  The Knicks have lost six of their last ten games and sit as the No. 9 seed in the East heading into play on Tuesday. New York and Los Angeles meeting on national TV is a big matchup, but one that is a bit less exciting due to the absence of James.

Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook will look to pick up the slack and deliver a win for the Lakers on Tuesday. The Knicks, despite their recent struggles, come in as solid favorites over the Lakers with James being suspended. Julius Randle and company will be favored vs. the Lakers, and looking to get back on the right track in a spot where they are pegged as the favorite.

Why The Lakers Can Cover The Spread

The Lakers have had a rocky season to this point with LeBron James missing nearly half the season so far due to injury. It appears the Lakers may be without him again Tuesday night vs. the Knicks unless he appeals his suspension. Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook will have to carry the load in New York, and Carmelo Anthony could presumably draw the start in James' place. The Lakers have lost six of then like the Knicks, but looked better obviously with James on the court these past couple games. With James set to be out, the Lakers are nearly five-point underdogs as of Tuesday morning. New York hasn't been playing well, so the Lakers may be in good position for a cover and win in the Garden on Tuesday. The Lakers are 6-12 vs. the spread so far in 2021-22.

Why The Knicks Can Cover The Spread

The Knicks caught a break with LeBron suspension, but they will need to play better in general to take down the Lakers on Tuesday. New York has lost four of their last six, including their second loss of the season to the Orlando Magic during that span. The Knicks' defense has not been good this season, as they have yet to find the right mix of offense and defense with new additions Kemba Walker and Evan Fourier in the backcourt. Both players are offensive guys, and the perimeter defense has suffered. The Knicks are favorites but not playing well of late, which makes them a risky play vs. the Lakers on Tuesday. New York is 7-10 against the spread this season.

Final Lakers-Knicks Prediction & Pick

Take the Lakers and the points on Tuesday, as they still have Davis. The Knicks have really struggled of late and laying this many points seems risky, even vs. the LeBron-less Lakers.

FINAL LAKERS-KNICKS PREDICTION & PICK: Lakers +4.5 (-110)
