The NBA continues Thursday evening with a battle in the Eastern Conference. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Nets-Wizards prediction and pick.
We are at the point in the season where anything I say in this prediction can go completely wrong in just a few hours. We are at the trade deadline in the NBA and today will be busy. The one team everyone is keeping an eye on today is the Brooklyn Nets. Will James Harden be dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons today? That is very possible according to many NBA insiders.
The Nets have lost eight-straight games and are just (29-25) on the season now. As for the Washington Wizards, they are (24-29) and are really struggling at this point in the season. They also could be active today with some trades. Let's get right to the prediction.

Why The Nets Could Cover The Spread
Let's be honest, no one has any idea what's going on with this team. Within the next few hours, their entire roster could be different and so it is difficult to figure out who will be playing in this game. It's an away game so Kyrie Irving is eligible to play. But truthfully, he probably doesn't want to. The Nets are flat-out bad right now without Kevin Durant, and Harden is dealing with a hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined. It seems like Harden wants out of Brooklyn and if he is not traded, then the Nets might be in even more trouble than they already are. As for this game against the Wizards, I just don't like their chances even if Irving plays. If he doesn't, the Wizards have a favorable matchup.
Why The Wizards Could Cover The Spread
The Wizards are coming off two-straight losses to the top teams in each conference, the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat. This team started out the season hot but fell off completely and no one is sure why. Bradley Beal will undergo season-ending wrist surgery that he suffered after the Wizards were already miserable. Kyle Kuzma and Spencer Dinwiddie become the two most important players on that roster. Dinwiddie could very well be traded today as well as he has said he doesn't necessarily feel welcomed in Washington. If he stays, he will be a major factor for them the rest of the season and he will be needed. Against the Nets tonight, they just need to take care of a team that doesn't want to play basketball right now. Both teams have a combined three wins in their last 20 games.
