The Raptors and 76ers each come into play Thursday looking to snap a losing streak. Philadelphia has lost two straight games at home as they continue to battle injuries and having players in COVID protocols. The 76ers have managed to stay afloat despite the absences of Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons and others, but the losses may begin to pile up if they don't get someone back soon. Toronto was a surprisingly hot team to start the season, winning six of their first nine games. The Raptors have now lost three straight however and will be looking to get back into the win column on Thursday.

Why The Raptors Can Cover The Spread

Toronto is on a back-to-back after losing last night to the Boston Celtics, so their injury report for Thursday that has yet to submitted. Pascal Siakam is the name to watch here, as he has been a bit banged up early in the season and is still day-to-day. The Raptors should still be the healthier team in this spot as Joel Embiid is out while Tobias Harris and Seth Curry is questionable. Rookie Scottie Barnes has provided an unexpected boost to the Raptors, as he is the third leading scorer on the team averaging 17 points per game.
OG Anunoby and Fred VanVleet have taken the reins of the team following the departure of Kyle Lowry. Pascal Siakam is still finding his footing working his way back from an injury and has played just two games this season. The Raptors rank 12th in the NBA with a +1.2 net rating coming into play Thursday, with their defense ranking 11th and their offense ranking 19th. With all of the injury and COVID issues plaguing the Sixers right now, the Raptors are a decent play to cover and win Thursday night.
Why The 76ers Can Cover The Spread
With Harris and Curry questionable, perhaps the 76ers won't be as short-handed as they have been the last couple games. Embiid is out in COVID protocols, as is Matisse Thybulle, but the 76ers have experience without Embiid. If Curry and Harris are ready to go, the 76ers will have no trouble generating offense vs. the Raptors on Thursday. The status of those two will be something to track before making a final pick for this game. If Curry and Harris are both in on Thursday night, the 76ers could be a good pick to cover and win on their home floor.
Despite all of their issues, the 76ers still have the best offensive rating in the NBA, and the fifth best net rating. Curry and Harris will need to suit up, but the 76ers are one of the better teams in the NBA and have a good chance to take care of business vs. Toronto with the rest advantage on Thursday.
