The Minnesota Timberwolves host the Toronto Raptors in what should be an exciting interconference matchup! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Raptors-Timberwolves prediction and pick.

Nobody expected these two teams to have winning records at this point in the season. Not only are the winning games, but these are two elite teams that have major star power. The Toronto Raptors are (31-25) on the season but are coming off a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans by 30. The Minnesota Timberwolves are (31-27) on the season and have won two-straight games. They defeated the Charlotte Hornets by six points the last night.

Why The Raptors Could Cover The Spread

Article Continues Below

The Toronto Raptors don't contain much length on their roster. Their tallest players are Chris Boucher and Khem Birch who are 6-foot-9. That doesn't matter, however, as the Raptors are dominating teams with their offensive firepower. Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet are both averaging over 20 points per game and Gary Trent Jr. has turned into a stud, averaging north of 18 points per game. With OG Anunoby and Socctie Barnes also averaging over 14 points per game, then that shows how elite this team is. Head coach Nick Nurse uses an unorthodox gameplan and its been working the last two months.

The Timberwolves are playing well also so this won't be an easy game. Containing Karl-Anthony Towns is a tough task but that's what they will have to do in order to cover this spread and win the game. As it stands now, the Raptors will have to win by at least a three points in order to cover. That is doable with how they have played so far in 2022. The T-wolves have won seven-straight home games and the Raptors have a winning record on the road at (15-12).

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread

Minnesota has been on fire offensively averaging 125.6 points per game over their last 10 games. They are (7-3) during that span but are also allowing 119 points per game. With the Raptors offense playing really well also, they need to step their defense up if they want to get past them here. Toronto is averaging only 116 points compared to the T-wolves 125, but Toronto has many options who can hurt them. It will be the Towns and Anthony Edwards show as usual and if they both are playing well that should be good enough for them to get the upset win here. They can still lose and cover this spread but it would just be by a 2-point basket.

Fred VanVleet is currently questionable for the Raptors so if he doesn't play that will be a bonus for the T-wolves. Anthony Edwards left Tuesday's game against the Hornets with an ankle injury. He's questionable for tonight and if he doesn't play then that will be a major loss for this team. What is going to be interesting to see is who wins the transition matchup because both teams like to play fast. The T-wolves must control the boards as well because the Raptors won't be able to keep up without the height.

Final Raptors-Timberwolves Prediction & Pick

Both teams are great against the spread this season. Toronto is (32-23-10 while the Timberwolves are (30-27). This will be a close and exciting matchup in which I think the over will hit. Minnesota should win this game here. Take the Timberwolves to cover this spread at home as well as take the over.

Final Raptors-Timberwolves Prediction & Pick: Timberwolves -2 (-110) & over: 227 (-110)
