Why The Wild Can Cover The Spread/Win

So far on the season, the Minnesota Wild are 31-13-3 on the season and 3-2 in their last five matchups. They sit in second place in the Central Division behind the best team in hockey right now, the Colorado Avalanche. But that's okay as they have plenty of room to secure that second seed when the playoffs come knocking. The emergence of rookie Matt Boldy has been very exciting as he's recorded eight goals and eight assists in just 16 games. But he's not the only reason the Wild have the third-best offense in the league by scoring 3.81 goals per game. In fact, it's another one of Minnesota's young guys, sophomore Kirill Kaprizov, who has 23 goals and 62 points on the season.

They also have All-Star goaltending in Cam Talbot, who will look to get another start tonight after getting the night off in Edmonton on Sunday. He's allowing 2.91 goals against with a .911 save percentage on the season so far as he'll look to get another notch in the win column tonight against a much weaker Ottawa team.

Why The Senators Can Cover The Spread/Win

While the Ottawa Senators aren't looking for a playoff spot this year, they love to be competitive and keep games very close. They are in the midst of a rebuilding stage and already have the potential to beat some of the better teams in the league. With that said, Ottawa hasn't been a strong team offensively as they rank 25th in the league, scoring 2.63 goals per game. The offense will need to get rolling tonight they will lean on Anton Forsberg to help them out in the net. He's 10-8-2 on the season so far with a .916 save percentage and allowing 2.78 goals against. Forsberg will look to be the Senators' last hope as they try to steal two points off of the Wild at home tonight.

Final Wild-Senators Prediction & Pick

Ottawa is coming off of back-to-back defeats, but they kept it close in both losses where they lost by just one goal. Earlier in the season, the Senators took the Wild to overtime before ultimately losing, but the Senators really like to keep games close in general. However, Ottawa is 9-15-2 at home, not to mention they can only have 50% capacity of fans there for now. With that said, I think this is fantastic value at a +1.5 spread for a team that likes to keep it close. I don't think they'll win, but for the value bet, look for the Ottawa Senators to cover tonight.

Final Wild-Senators Prediction & Pick: Senators +1.5 (-140)
