Like the rest of the NFL, the Buffalo Bills are slowly getting their 53-man team together. They are making the final cuts in order to complete their squad. One of the final cuts to the team is Captain Munnerlyn.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed the transaction that the 10-year veteran was let go by the Bills:
The #Bills are releasing veteran CB Captain Munnerlyn, source said. Was brought in as a familiar face in Sean McDermott’s defense.

Throughout the preseason, Munnerlyn and Lafayette Pitts were duking it out for one of the final cornerback positions. After their final preseason game, it seems that they found the journeyman a better fit for their system than Munnerlyn.

Munnerlyn was rather productive during his final year with the Carolina Panthers: he got 47 tackles, 3 TFLs, 2 QB hits, 1 interception, and one fumble recovery in only five starts. Meanwhile, Pitts only managed a total of nine tackles in the limited minutes he got to play.
One may see this move as the inability of the two parties to find a suitable deal in place. Another possible angle for the cut is that they have an exciting rookie corner ready to fill his shoes.
Cameron Lewis played his four years of football in Buffalo and is only 16 miles from New Era Field. He also has a good collegiate record, making a total of 156 tackles, five interceptions, 22 pass deflections, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in his four years as a Bill.
With this move, plenty of teams will definitely be looking to add Munnerlyn to their team. Quality corners are always in demand, and teams with leaky pass defenses will be intrigued at the prospect of adding him to their rosters.
