The Buffalo Bills are signing veteran defensive end Sam Acho and releasing guard Vladimir Ducasse, the team announced on Twitter.
Acho, 30, is a veteran defensive player who last spent four seasons with the Chicago Bears. Prior to his tenure in the Windy City, Acho was a fourth-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2011, where he played for the Cards for four years.
The University of Texas at Austin product had his 2018 season cut short, however, with a torn pectoral muscle ending Acho's year only four games into the schedule. Acho was released by the Bears in March earlier this year.
The linebacker/DE Acho recorded 97 combined tackles, 25 QB hits, and four sacks in three seasons with the Bears, not including the injury-ravaged 2018.
Buffalo also released Haitian-born guard Ducasse, who has been with the organization since 2017. Prior to his time with the Bills, Ducasse had one-year stints with the Bears and Minnesota Vikings, and before that he spent four seasons with the AFC East division rivals New York Jets. Ducasse, a former second-round draft talent, lost his starting spot last season to Virginia Tech product and fifth-round pick Wyatt Teller.
Acho joins a defensive line on the Bills stacked with linebacker Maurice Alexander from the Seattle Seahawks, first-round pick from Houston Ed Oliver at tackle, seventh-round pick-up Darryl Johnson, competing for a job at DE, and other veterans like Lorenzo Alexander, Tremaine Edwards, Deon Lacey, Matt Milano, and Julian Stanford.
Last season, the Bills were one of the worst teams to sack opposing quarterbacks, only recording 36 take-downs, good for seventh-worst in the NFL. Additionally, Buffalo was middle of the pack in allowing rushing yards to offenses.
