Intent on a return to professional play, TSM coach Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg will join a new League of Legends team this off-season. The LCS mid laner makes his exit after eight years with Team SoloMid. In a surprising twist, Bjergsen chose not to re-sign with the org despite an offer to play for the roster in 2022. Now fans are left wondering where one of the most iconic TSM stars will be headed.

When Bjergsen re-signed with TSM back in 2019, he became part-owner of his long-time org. In his final season of play, the squad still made it to Worlds 2020, but crashed out during the group stage. The mid lane star then retired to transition to a coaching role and had an admirable stint as head coach.

TSM were second only to Cloud9 in the LCS Spring regular season then even topped the standings in LCS Summer. However, the squad put up a disappointing playoffs run. They ended fourth after losing to C9, 2-3, and missed out on a spot at the 2021 World Championship.

Now Bjergsen—who is a four-time LCS MVP—seeks a return to the competitive stage. After he announced his intent to come out of retirement, the community began speculating whether it meant Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage would depart the roster. As it turned out, however, Bjergsen was the one parting ways, not POE. (Although, certainly, it'd be possible for POE could leave, too.)

Bjergsen's contract doesn't expire until November 15, but it already sounds like he already found a new home. In a Twitter video , TSM League manager Parth “Parth” Naidu revealed that while they made an offer for a roster spot, the mid laner ultimately decided to move on.

“We made a highly competitive offer to Bjergsen to play for us, along with a solid plan of what the rest of the roster around him would look like,” Parth explained. “We were notified today that Bjergsen is choosing to decline our offer and pursuing a project with a different team.”

Travis Gafford predicted Bjergsen could head to Team Liquid in a recent video on the NA free agency market. The rumored plan, according to Upcomer, would keep both Bjergsen and Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen on the starting roster, with the current TL mid laner role swapping to the AD carry position.

Nothing is confirmed yet, though, and fans will be bracing themselves for another spicy off-season in competitive LoL.
