The sporting world was rocked on Tuesday when news broke that the Cleveland Browns had agreed to terms with the New York Giants for the trade of 26-year-old wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Cleveland fans everywhere were rejoicing, including none other than the Portland Trail Blazers' C.J. McCollum, a long-time Browns supporter.

In a recent interview, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard shared his excitement about the upcoming NFL season, and why he thinks things are about to change for his Browns.

“I’m excited about the opportunities we have in front of us,” said McCollum, via ClutchPoints' very own Tomer Azarly. “We’ve waited a long time for this. John Dorsey’s doing a tremendous job. We got Baker Mayfield. We got Jarvis Landry. We got Odell Beckham Jr. We got Nick Chubb. We got David Njoku, shoutout Antonio Callaway.”

McCollum was born and raised in Canton, Ohio and has been a Browns supporter since childhood. His fandom has never faltered, despite the dark times Cleveland has experienced over the past few years.

With the recent acquisition of one of the best wide receivers in the game today in Beckham, the Browns are definitely going to be one of the most popular teams in the NFL. This is exactly why McCollum suggested that bandwagon fans are going to start coming in by the thousands to support what was just recently an almost obsolete franchise.

As for McCollum, he was simply outstanding on Tuesday in a blowout victory against the Los Angeles Clippers. The 27-year-old led the Blazers to a 125-104 win, with a game-high 35 points (on 12-of-21 shooting), six three-pointers, four rebounds, four assists, two steals, and zero turnovers in 35 minutes of action.
