Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony used the NBA hiatus to work on his body, and the hard work paid off.

Anthony looks noticeably skinnier down in Orlando, Florida. In fact, the Blazers wing is now being called “skinny Melo.”

During a conference call with Blazers reporters on Friday, Anthony said he lost fat and redistributed his weight during the hiatus period. The future Hall of Famer also revealed that he lost only five pounds.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended in March, Anthony was averaging 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists for the Blazers. The 10-time All-Star was also shooting 42.6 percent from the field, 37.1 percent from beyond the arc and 84.3 percent from the free-throw line.

With Jusuf Nurkic and Zach Collins back in the lineup for the “bubble” games, the Blazers are at full strength for the first time all season and could make some noise at Walt Disney World. However, Portland first has to play well in the seeding games to qualify for the 2020 playoffs.

The Blazers' eight seeding games are against the Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets. Portland’s first game is on July 31 against Ja Morant and Memphis.

Once the seeding games start, the Blazers will need Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and Carmelo Anthony to play like the All-Stars they are for the team to reach the 2020 playoffs.
