At the beginning of the 2019-20 NBA campaign, Carmelo Anthony was out of a job, and it was unclear whether or not he would ever play in the league again. But in November, the Portland Trail Blazers decided to give him a shot.

Little did Anthony know that he might not be playing basketball for different reasons later in the season.

As a result of COVID-19, the NBA suspended its campaign last month until further notice. With the season hanging in the balance, one has to wonder about Anthony's future in the game.

However, during an interview with Jamie Foxx, the 35-year-old insisted that he isn't thinking about any type of farewell tour just yet:

“Honestly, I really don’t know… I haven’t even like [thought] — ‘you know what — this is it.' You know, what I’m saying?” said Anthony. “It wasn’t like, ‘oh I wanted to come back and oh, I want a farewell tour and all.’ No, I wanted to come back and play and be productive and hoop at the end of the day.”

In 50 games with the Blazers before the suspension, Anthony was averaging 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds over 32.5 minutes per game while shooting 42.6 percent from the floor, 37.1 percent from three-point range and 84.3 percent from the free-throw line.

No, it wasn't prime Melo, but it was clear that the veteran still has something left in the tank after having not played for a year.

Anthony owns career averages of 23.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and has made 10 All-Star appearances throughout his 17-year NBA tenure.
