It took a while but Carmelo Anthony finally got his shot in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers. While the money is still not guaranteed, he and the rest of the league are just happy to see him back on an NBA court.

Now, ahead of joining the Blazers, Melo opened up about the journey of finding a new team that will need him in a video for what he called as his “next chapter.”

Based off how Melo was talking in the video, one can see how happy he is to be given one more shot in the NBA. He revealed that the entire thing happened within 48 hours.

“I got a call on Wednesday, thought about it,” Melo began. “Then Thursday was the commitment. It was, ‘Okay, I'm ready to do this. When do you wanna make this happen? I'm open, let's really get serious about this and make something happen.'”

Melo also shared that he was trying to get himself off the mentality of being in the league over the past year and a half because he wanted to keep his sanity. Due to that, he asked for three to four days so he can spend time with his trainer and get the shape and mentality back.

He said the right things to Blazers fans, even declaring that Portland has always been a destination for him.

“I always kept my eye on Portland,” said Anthony. “It just didn't work out that other time, but now seems like a perfect opportunity. Me and Dame, we've been talking for the past couple of years, just off and on… I just look at that opportunity and that team and said, ‘Look, this is what I can bring to the team, this is where I can help in.'

“It would only work if all parties see it the same way.”

Anthony is eager to play, and his words show just that. Blazers fans will have a lot to look forward to once Melo is fully integrated into the Blazers system.
