Chauncey Billups has reportedly reached an agreement with the Portland Trail Blazers to be the team's next head coach, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Per Woj, the contract is four five years with a team option for the fifth year. No financial details were disclosed, but the figures are expected to come out soon as well.

On Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Blazers were already set to hire Chauncey Billups after a series of interviews with several candidates, including San Antonio Spurs assistant Becky Hammon. The two sides obviously worked on the fine details of the deal over the past couple of days.

Billups is now set to be introduced in a press conference on Tuesday in Portland.

For what it's worth, though, the hiring has received several criticisms as people highlight Billups' history with a rape allegation early in his basketball career. Even Damian Lillard has been slapped with backlash, as critics blame him for endorsing the 44-year-old to be the Blazers' coach.

With the current development and rumors about Lillard reportedly wanting out, Billups is set for a tough start in his first head coaching job.

The hiring of Billups is only the first offseason move for the Blazers as they try to revamp their roster and make a contender around Lillard. As previous rumors cited, what Portland decides to do in the offseason will have a huge impact on whether Dame would want to stay or not.
