Ben Simmons trade rumors have begun to heat up again of late and the Portland Trail Blazers remain to be one of the teams that have been linked to the Sixers want-away star.

In a recent interview for NBA Reddit, Blazers superstar Damian Lillard had some very high praise for Simmons as whispers of a potential backcourt partnership between them continue to get louder. When asked who he believes the top premiere defenders are in the league, Lillard made sure to include Simmons in his list:

NBA champion Jrue Holiday of the Milwaukee Bucks and Lu Dort of the Oklahoma City Thunder were the other two defenders on Dame's list. However, there's no denying that the most intriguing member of the Lillard's trio is none other than Ben Simmons.

The Sixers All-Star point guard has been crucified by the media all summer long (and well before that, actually) as he continues to force his way out of Philadelphia. The Blazers have been rumored to be interested in acquiring the 25-year-old but apparently, the Sixers have slapped Simmons with an unreasonable price tag.

As Simmons' saga with the 76ers continues, you can only imagine his market value decreasing. We're also approaching the February trade deadline and Philly will want to make their move before then. Then again, the Sixers have also shown that they are more than willing to keep Ben hostage, so at least for right now, a Lillard-Simmons partnership in Portland still remains to be a dream.
