The Portland Trail Blazers are facing a potential sweep at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans, after falling to a 0-3 hole following Thursday night's 119-102 defeat at the Smoothie King Center.

The stellar backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum enjoyed a much better showing than in Game 2, but they lacked the supporting cast to help them deal with a troublesome Pelicans defense.

“You don't want to be a three seed, get home court and then work so hard in the regular season to lose your home court and then go get smacked by (17 points) on the road in Game 3,” said McCollum, who had a team-high 22 points on the night, according to Andrew Greif of The Oregonian. “But it's the reality.”

“They whooped our (butts) and beat us in every facet of the game.”

Historically, no team in NBA history has come back from a 0-3 deficit in a seven-game series, but the Blazers have their eyes set on showing some fight, rather than projecting a comeback in the series.

The Blazers were already facing a daunting task going into the road down 0-2, and role players like Nikola Mirotic got the home court boost as expected, dropping a game-high 30 points on 12-of-15 shooting.

“When things aren't going well and they're hitting shots and their crowd is into it the game just gets harder and it gets harder to trust those plays and trust that it'll work out,” said Lillard.

“At this point we have to have some pride and go out there and just try to get a win and take it back home.”
