Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard wants to win an NBA championship as any great player does. But despite the Blazers failing to make it deep into the playoffs for numerous years, he isn’t giving up his desire to win a title in Portland.

“Like, I can’t express my desire and how bad I want to win it,” Lillard said, via Jason Quick of the Athletic. “I want that more than anything. Not just to say I won a championship. But I want to do it in this city. I want to have a parade on Broadway and ride past El Gaucho (steakhouse). That’s what I think of. Every time the playoffs is starting, I’m going into it like, ‘Is this going to be the year that the Blazers shock the world or that we come up big?”’

Just over a month ago, Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes wrote about how Dame is growing frustrated with the Blazers as he tries to win a championship. But, he clearly loves playing in the city and doesn’t want to go elsewhere.

Since that article came out, Portland went on an impressive run to finish the regular season. Could this maybe be the year Lillard and the Blazers go all the way?

Their first-round opponent in the Nuggets will not be easy, though. Portland’s unstable defense will need to do everything imaginable to contain Nikola Jokic. But, Denver’s backcourt is looking thin without Jamal Murray. Dame and CJ McCollum should be able to do so damage.

Without Lillard, it’s hard to imagine what this franchise would look like. But if another early exit from the playoffs happens in 2021, we could see the Blazers star ultimately explore options elsewhere in his pursuit of NBA glory.
