The Portland Trail Blazers are poised to get a much-needed boost ahead of this week's crucial four-game homestand at Moda Center.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups has cleared health-and-safety protocols and is set to be on the sidelines on Monday night against the Atlanta Hawks.

Billups missed the last three games after catching the wave of COVID-19 that swept through his team. Portland lost each of those contests by at least 15 points, immense struggles that pushed the team to a new nadir amid a disappointing regular season. Assistant Scott Brooks, hired last offseason after previously serving as head coach of the Washington Wizards, took the reins on the Blazers bench with Billups out.

Anfernee Simons joined many of his teammates in health-and-safety protocols on Thursday, but is now slated to return at some point this week. Among eight total players currently sidelined by COVID-19, Portland is still waiting on Jusuf Nurkic, Robert Covington, Cody Zeller, Ben McLemore and Dennis Smith Jr. to test out of health-and-safety protocols.

The Hawks are dealing with an outbreak of their own. Both head coach Nate McMillan and top assistant Chris Jent recently tested positive, leaving assistant Joe Prunty to serve as Atlanta's head coach in Portland on Monday night.
