Damian Lillard is the best player on the Portland Trail Blazers, but it looks like small forward Evan Turner is the pulse of the team.

Turner is loved by all of his teammates. Lillard, one of the top point guards in the NBA, says Turner is “great for our locker room.”

“I think he just brings something different to this team,” Lillard told Jason Quick of The Athletic. “He’s great for our locker room, great for the morale of the team. He brings a good feeling to the team, and I think regardless of what his stats would be or what he has done on the floor, sometimes some people have that effect on a team. He is that guy for us.”

Turner never lived up to the hype of being the second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, but he has turned himself into a solid role player on the Blazers.

In 71 games this season for the Blazers, Turner is averaging 6.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest. The Chicago native is shooting 46.3 percent from the field, 21.2 percent from beyond the arc and 69.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The Blazers are looking to atone for what happened in the 2018 playoffs. They were swept by the New Orleans Pelicans in the first-round. Portland will need Turner to play at a high-level in the postseason and be the swiss army knife that he is.
