Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard is targeting a return for Wednesday's game against the Washington Wizards, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.

Lillard has been out because of a groin injury:

Lillard is averaging 29.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 7.9 assists on the season for the Blazers. He’s shooting 46.0 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from beyond the arc and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Lillard and the Blazers are 26-35 on the season. They are in 12th place in the Western Conference standings after reaching the Western Conference Finals last season. Portland will have to go on a crazy run in the second half of the season to replicate their success from the 2018-19 campaign.

The good news is that Lillard didn’t hear a pop when he injured his groin against the Memphis Grizzlies. The second half of the Blazers’ season would have been pointless if Lillard was done for the rest of the season.

A five-time All-Star, Damian Lillard has career averages of 24.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists with the Blazers.
