Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard is well aware of the risks he and the rest of his NBA brothers are taking by resuming the 2019-20 season at Walt Disney World. Just because the players are playing in a “bubble” doesn't guarantee them immunity from COVID-19, especially since there are still a number of cases in Florida.

However, Lillard is willing to take the risk since it's his job to play basketball for the Blazers.

A number of NBA players are hesitant to resume the season due to COVID-19 concerns. Moreover, many African American players believe sports coming back on will take the attention off of the Black Lives Matter movement. Guys like Kyrie Irving and Dwight Howard are worried that once the NBA is back on ESPN or TNT, people will stop protesting and go watch TV instead.

Damian Lillard and the Blazers are scheduled to battle it out with the Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Before the 2019-20 season was suspended in March, the Blazers had 29 wins and 37 losses. The team was in ninth place in the West.

One of the best players in the NBA, Lillard is averaging 28.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists on the season in 58 games. The Blazers' leader, both on and off the floor, is also shooting 45.7 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from beyond the arc and 88.8 percent from the free-throw line.
