The Portland Trail Blazers will be without center Hassan Whiteside on Thursday when they take on the Milwaukee Bucks.

Whiteside is dealing with a right hip injury.

In 14 games this season for the Blazers, Whiteside is averaging 14.9 points and 12.0 rebounds while shooting 58.7 percent from the field and 78.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The Blazers are just 5-10 on the season. They are looking to snap a two-game losing streak. It will be tough, though, since Whiteside and superstar point guard Damian Lillard are out. Lillard is still dealing with back spasms.

Carmelo Anthony played 24 minutes versus the New Orleans Pelicans in his Blazers debut on Tuesday. He finished with 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting from the field. The Blazers lost by a final score of 115-104.

The Blazers were in need of scoring and help in the frontcourt, so this was a good roll of the dice by signing Anthony. The non-guaranteed contract makes it a low-risk proposition as well. We’ll see if Melo makes it past the Jan. 7 guaranteed date.

Whiteside's status moving forward will be day to day. Portland waived Pau Gasol on Wednesday and is still without Jusuf Nurkic. It's unclear when Nurkic will be back in the lineup for the Blazers.
