Detroit Pistons legend and NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas is a huge fan of Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard.

During a recent appearance on Sirus XM NBA Radio, Thomas talked about his admiration for Lillard amid the All-Star's stellar run at Walt Disney World.

“The thing that I'm more impressed with Damian Lillard is his growth and maturity every year — as a person, as a leader and a basketball player,” Thomas said of the Blazers star. “If you remember when he first came into the league, one of the things I was critical of him was that I thought he needed to drive to the basket more, I thought he needed to get to the foul line more because he was such a great foul shooter.

“He always had the deadly jumper, but I felt that putting it on the floor, getting to the basket, working on finishing around the rim, that part of his game would only make him a much better player if he wasn't settling for the three all the time. Every year, he's added that portion to his game, and now, he's a deadly driver to the basket in terms of making layups, he's a deadly 3-point shooter, he's a deadly foul-shooter.”

Isiah Thomas was a little point guard who won two titles with the Pistons in a big man's game.

Now, Damian Lillard is trying to do the same thing with the Blazers. Portland is currently tied with the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2020 playoffs at 1-1. Lillard won the seeding games MVP and is trying to hand LeBron James his first loss in the postseason as a Laker.

It's difficult for a team to win a championship when the point guard is the club's best player, especially when you are only 6-foot-1 like Thomas and 6-foot-2 like Lillard. However, Thomas had the right supporting cast on the Pistons and won back-to-back titles in '89 and '90. Zeke also won the 1990 Finals MVP.

With the way Lillard is shooting and scoring the ball right now, the Blazers could possibly make a magical Finals run, especially since there are no fans at Disney World and Dame has plenty of help in C.J. McCollum, Carmelo Anthony and Jusuf Nurkic.
