Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic has given an update on his wrist injury that has kept him sidelined for close to two months.

In response to a question from The Jump on ESPN about his injury, the Bosnian star said his wrist was “doing great” and that he could return in “a week or two”.

Nurkic injured his wrist in the Blazers' loss to the Indiana Pacers back on January 14th. He had surgery on it a few days later.

Blazers president of basketball operations Neil Olshey said last week that Nurkic was continuing to “increase his on-court activity” and would be “re-evaluated later this week”. There is now an update provided on when the big man will return.

The injury came after the 7-foot center had played in just 12 games for Portland, averaging 9.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. Nurkic's injury is not the only injury concern for the Trail Blazers, who sit fifth in the West with a 21-14 record.

Guard C.J. McCollum is still recovering from a left foot fracture which he suffered against the Atlanta Hawks two days after Nurkic's injury. According to ESPN, McCollum was cleared for contact practice last week, and like Nurkic, will have his injury re-evaluated later this week.

McCollum had proved dominant for Rip City in his 13 games prior to his injury. He was averaging a career-best 26.7 points and 5 assists a game. The Trail Blazers will hope to continue their strong play without the two when they return to the court at home on Thursday against the second-placed Phoenix Suns.
