Earlier, it was reported that the Phoenix Suns have been kicking the tires on a potential trade that would land them a star point guard. Among the players the Suns are reportedly eyeing in such a deal is Portland Trail Blazers court general Damian Lillard. It’s a bit of a chin-scratching news that must have befuddled people from the Blazers’ camp, including big man Jusuf Nurkic.

With just an emoji, Nurkic summed up what he’s feeling about the possibility of Lillard getting dealt to the Suns.

We’re not sure what to make entirely out of Nurkic’s reaction, but he’s probably not going to be happy if Dame gets shipped. Nurkic just waived his chance to make a ton of money next year when teams have more financial flexibility by signing a four-year deal worth only $48 million with the Blazers back in July. By trading Lillard, the Blazers are likely headed to some degree of a rebuilding process that might last for years and stretch over the duration of Nurkic’s current deal.

The Blazers have been a force in the regular season over the past few years but has consistently floundered in the playoffs, suggesting that the combo of Lillard and C.J. McCollum may not really be the right tandem for the team to build around.

The good thing for Lillard fans in Portland is that the player is still a Blazer, so there’s no need for them to sound the alarm.

Damian Lillard is under Portland’s control until 2021.
