Damian Lillard and trade rumors: name a more iconic duo. The Portland Trail Blazers star has been the subject of speculation for as long as he's been with the team. Countless fans and “analysts” have advocated for Lillard to stay with his original or, more popularly, for Lillard to demand a trade.
For other members of the team, it has to be tiring hearing these rumors. Jusuf Nurkic certainly was tired of all of these Damian Lillard trade rumors. After a reporter posted an editorial advocating for Dame Time to leave Portland, Nurkic ripped into the writer of the article on Twitter.
Nurkic and Lillard share a close bond together. Since the Bosnian big man was traded to the Blazers, he's had a great brotherhood with Lillard. Their chemistry is also visible on the court: when healthy, their pick-and-roll is absolutely deadly. They've been the cornerstones of the franchise for a few years now.
Unfortunately, this year just has not been the Blazers' year. They struggled right out of the gate under new coach Chauncey Billups, as they sat at the bottom of the Western Conference. To make matters worse, Lillard was ruled out for the season after undergoing abdominal surgery. They've been playing good basketball as of late, but it's a bit too late for them to salvage the season.
Still, there's plenty to like about this Blazers squad once Lillard returns. They have plenty of guys who can contribute at a high level. This shouldn't be the time for fans to want their star out of the team.
