Friday's tilt between the Portland Trail Blazers and Dallas Mavericks will go down as a historic evening for both Carmelo Anthony and Blazers head coach Terry Stotts.

‘Melo, of course, got his share of shine by becoming just the 11th member of the NBA's 27,000 point club with a smooth fadeaway over Luka Doncic, but Portland center Jusuf Nurkic pointed out that this was a momentous evening for Stotts as well (maybe even throwing some light shade at Hornets guard Terry Rozier):

The rest of the team joined the pair in a post-game locker room celebration that is just sweet enough to make your teeth hurt.

This Blazers team is at the center of one of the most wholesome and inspiring storylines in the league this season. Nurkic and CJ McCollum are both saddled with long term injuries, and the team was in the hot seat for all the wrong reasons after a couple years of playoff-related heartbreak.

Yet, Dame Time is seemingly here to stay in Portland as one of the NBA's most loyal stars, Carmelo Anthony has seemingly found redemption in the northwest, and Terry Stotts is now officially one of the league's most underrated coaches.

This team gets almost no shine or attention in Portland's relatively small market, and pundits will always speculate about what Dame or CJ or whoever can do under a bigger spotlight. But by all accounts, this team has a special bond. They seem to genuinely care for and enjoy one another, and are performing superbly through this point in the season.

Kudos to you, Portland. Keep fighting the good fight.
