Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Rodney Hood would love to be back with the team next season, but the lefty understands better than anyone the nature of the business side of the NBA.
The Blazers acquired Hood at the February trade deadline from the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was the second straight trade deadline Hood had been moved. The Utah Jazz traded Hood to the Cavs at the 2018 trade deadline.
Hood averaged 9.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists with the Blazers during the regular season in 27 games. The lefty put up 9.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in the playoffs while shooting 46.8 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Hood's best game of the season was in Game 6 against the Denver Nuggets in the second round. He scored 25 points in 31 minutes to help the Blazers win at home. Portland went to the Western Conference Finals, where they got swept by the Golden State Warriors.
Hood has career averages of 12.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 320 games with the Jazz, Cavs and Blazers. He's always been able to score the ball. Consistency is the only thing which plagues Hood right now. It will be interesting to see if Portland has interest in re-signing him this summer.
