Los Angeles Lakers guard Danny Green is no stranger to the NBA Finals, landing himself two championship rings in his career thus far. However, he was on the receiving end of some Laker Nation hate after missing a wide-open shot that would potentially win the game and the series for the Lakers.

Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard knows exactly what the Lakers veteran felt after the missed shot and proceeded to defend the veteran:

“Danny Green is a 2x champion,” he said. “And has played with great players who have trusted him in big moments time and time again… he’s proven as a big shot maker at the highest level and on big stage… he just missed it. Great look that he missed. I cope with misses because I accept that with the big makes come big misses… and when you don’t accept that ‘it happens’ you sit in it and can become a head case… you just have to chalk (it up) to the game and move on.”

Despite his abundant playing experience, Green wasn't exactly his usual self for the entirety of the 2020 NBA Playoffs. His shooting slump carried on as the Lakers advanced to the NBA Finals where he still tallied dismal numbers.

In Game 1, he tallied 11 points followed by a three-point output in Game 2. His offensive production for Los Angeles never really took off, recording two points in Game 3 then 10 points in Game 4.

In Game 5, he contributed a total of eight points through 24 minutes of action which resulted to a 111-108 loss by the Lakers. Despite the loss, the Purple and Gold still find themselves with the upper hand on a 3-2 series advantage over the Heat. The Lakers will need everyone to play at their best if they want to close out the series in Game 6 and prevent a dangerous free-for-all Game 7 from happening.
