The Memphis Grizzlies will be without power forward/center Brandan Wright on Tuesday when they face the Philadelphia 76ers due to a left ankle sprain.

The 6-foot-10 big man was seen in a walking boot which does not bode well for his chances of seeing action in the near future. When and how the injury occurred is still unclear, but this will certainly be a huge blow for a team already missing the services of Jarell Martin, Chandler Parsons and Deyonta Davis.

Brandan Wright signed a three-year deal worth $17.1 million last year, but has only appeared in 28 games for the Grizzlies as he has suffered a variety of injuries. When healthy, he has shown a lot of promise, averaging 6.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in only 17.7 minutes per game last season.

After losing an influx of players to injuries right before the start of last season's playoffs, the Memphis faithful are hoping the team can remain healthy this season. Though they were still able to end up with a winning record and make it to the playoffs, the team was eliminated in the first round and had to fill the roster with some players on 10-day contracts.

With Marc Gasol in game shape once again, plus key additions to their roster, the Grizzlies are geared to make a deeper run this year and compete in the difficult Western Conference.

But as they learned the hard way last year, the first order of business is avoiding injuries and preserving their health.
