The Sacramento Kings have hired former Philadelphia 76ers VP Brandon Williams as their assistant general manager, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

General manager Vlade Divac said Sunday that Williams will bring with him a deep knowledge of player development and basketball operations to the organization, along with his legal skills.

“We are so excited that Brandon is joining our front office team,” said general manager Vlade Divac. “He is an experienced and talented basketball executive. His knowledge of player development and basketball operations combined with his legal skills will be a strong addition to our team.”

Williams spent the past four seasons as an executive with Philadelphia, most recently as the vice president of basketball administration and general manager of its NBA G-League affiliate, Delaware 87ers.

He will replace Scott Perry, who left to become the GM of the New York Knicks earlier this month.

“I'm excited about this,” Williams said. “It's really attractive to be part of a start up. That's the way that Vivek [Ranadive, owner] sees the Kings. He's a couple of years into ownership. He's forward thinking.”

Williams previously spent nine seasons in the league office as director of NBA player development and associate vice president of basketball operations. He also has a law degree from Rutgers, which could come in handy in this executive position.
