The defending champions Atlanta Braves have been on a tear as of late. After a so-so start to the season, the team has rallied to win multiple games in a row in the season. As a result, they have roared their way back into playoff contention. However, they suffered a major setback on Monday night against the Washington Nationals.
During the game, Braves star second baseman Ozzie Albies left the game with an apparent injury to his foot. At the time, fans were wondering how bad the injury was. After a few hours, the final diagnosis for Albies' injury was revealed: a fractured foot. It's a brutal blow to the defending champions, who were just settling into their groove.

Albies was instrumental in their historic World Series run last year. His solid hitting and defensive abilities were key to their win. In 2022, Albies was a little worse for the Braves, but was still spectacular in stretches for the team. His presence on the team will be sorely missed.
On offense, the Braves have enough star power to stay on top of their division. Ronald Acuna Jr. came back from his own injury this season and has been the star that the team has needed. The rest of the core has been hitting exceptionally well this season as well. Their pitching crew has also stepped up big time, as guys like Max Fried have been excellent for them all season long.
