Joel Embiid is currently under contract with the Philadelphia 76ers through the 2022-23 season. The All-Star center will have made $167,691,076 in NBA money by the time the summer of 2023 rolls around, per Spotrac. That's when Embiid becomes an unrestricted free agent.

The $167,691,076 is not bad for a guy who missed the first two years of his NBA career due to a foot injury. The Sixers drafted Embiid with the third overall pick in the 2014 draft out of Kansas, but he couldn't play for two years because of his right foot injury.

JoJo made $4,427,640 in Year 1 and $4,626,960 in Year 2. His foot was finally ready to go for the 2016-17 campaign despite reports at the time saying his foot injury was going to be career-threatening. Embiid played in 31 games and averaged 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds. The Cameroonian big man made $4,826,160, but he underwent knee surgery near the end of the season to address a meniscus tear in his left knee.

The 31 games, though, were enough for the Sixers to sign Embiid to a massive five-year, $147.7 million maximum contract in the summer of 2017. Embiid made $6,100,266 in 2017-18 before his extension kicked in. He averaged 22.9 points and 11.0 rebounds and led the Sixers to the second round of the playoffs. Embiid also made his first All-Star team.

In 2018-19, Embiid made $25,467,250. He averaged 27.5 points and 13.6 rebounds per game for the Sixers. While his injury woes were still a concern for Philly, the franchise knew it had an all-time great player on its hands.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19, Embiid was scheduled to make $27,504,630. He was averaging 23.4 points, 11.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists for the Sixers in 44 games prior to Rudy Gobert's positive COVID-19 test. Embiid was also shooting 47.4 percent from the field, 34.8 percent from beyond the arc and 81.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Moving forward, Embiid is set to make $29,542,010 in 2020-21, $31,579,390 in 2021-22 and $33,616,770 in 2022-23. The Sixers can always sign the three-time All-Star to an extension as well.

Embiid has career NBA averages of 24.1 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 202 NBA games.
