When Philadelphia 76ers great World B. Free declared that Ben Simmons appears to have grown two inches, everyone took notice and it added more hype, as if it needed more, to the much-awaited debut of the 2016 first overall pick.

Already standing 6’10”, the savvy Australian already holds an imposing advantage over other point guards with his length and playmaking. But seven feet? That’s just unfair.

However, Sixers coach Brett Brown spoke out on the topic and debunked Free’s observation.

Everyone on the Sixers’ side sure wish he does, Brett. Still, Simmons remains as the tallest at his position as long as Brown stays true to his word. It can be recalled that the Sixers’ coach earlier stated that he will allow Simmons to run the point, mainly to see how effective he can be in that capacity.

Perhaps the two-inch difference isn’t a big deal afterall. Simmons still possesses the length and skillset to defend and play all five positions on the floor, given further polishing.
