The Denver Broncos made the decision to bring aboard veteran cornerback Adam Jones to help further solidify their secondary.

With that move brought forth the opportunity for Jones to wear No. 24, which had previously been worn by former Broncos great Champ Bailey. According to Mike Klis of 9News, Bailey has given Jones permission to wear his number with the team this upcoming season.

“I told ‘Flip’ I was all for it just because I respect Pacman’s story,’’ Bailey said in a phone interview Tuesday with 9NEWS. “Being that (Jones) is a Georgia guy, I’ve always been a fan of his. Being 35 years old with all the (stuff) he’s been through – it’s respectable the career he’s had.’’

This is a major honor for Denver's latest addition. Bailey was one of the league's top cornerbacks during his time in the league, as he proved it with his play throughout his illustrious 15-year career that was spent with the Broncos and Washington Redskins. He had numerous honors that further fueled that notion as he had 12 Pro Bowl nods, 3 three first-team All-Pro selections, and a pair of second-team All-Pro nods.

Jones is heading into a situation where he has a chance to secure a significant role as one of the proven factors at the cornerback positions. He has gone through many situations off the field that have impacted his career greatly, but he got back on track during his time with the Cincinnati Bengals. He may be in the latter portion of his playing days, however, he can still step in to provide much-needed stability at a critical spot in the secondary.

Nonetheless, the chance to wear the jersey number of one of the all-time greats at his position is a tremendous honor for Jones in his career.
