The Denver Broncos suffered a devastating blow with the season-ending Achilles injury to wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. They have since managed to add to their receiving corps with Andre Holmes.

The Broncos had a notable void at receiver with Sanders out. According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, they have claimed Holmes off waivers:

According to multiple reports, they have claimed Andre Holmes off of waivers.

Holmes was one of two wideouts released by the Buffalo Bills this week. Fortunately, he has had much more luck with finding a new home than wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin.

He will have a fresh start with a Denver team trying to remain competitive. Meanwhile, Benjamin is now a free agent after going unclaimed on waivers.

Holmes is a former undrafted free agent and spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders before signing with the Bills. He did not do much to help with the lackluster passing attack in Buffalo this season. He has registered just 12 receptions for 157 yards thus far. He will now have an opportunity to etch out a more integral role for himself in the Broncos offense. The veteran's rare combination of size and speed could add a potential explosive element to this offense.

Regardless, it is safe to assume that none of the wideouts on the roster will be able to replicate what Sanders brings to the table. Denver had undergone a bit of a youth movement in their receiving corps. They are hoping this group can serve as a viable unit for quarterback Case Keenum for the final stretch of the season.
