After starting the final five games of the season last year, second-year quarterback Drew Lock has earned the right to be the Denver Broncos' franchise quarterback going forward.

Big things are expected from the Missouri product in 2020 and with the recent addition of former New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur as the team's new offensive coordinator, Lock believes the Bronco's new system can help take his game to the next level.

“I think with this offense, there's definitely more of the possibility for us to press the ball downfield, which I think definitely plays into my strength,” Lock said per Nicki Jhablava of The Athletic.

Lock has shown impressive arm strength and helped the Broncos to a 4-1 record in their last five games. In those five starts, the 2019 second-round pick completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions.

As for Shurmur, Denver's new OC has been an NFL coach since 1999 and before his two-year stint as the head coach in New York, Shurmur served as the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings.

With veteran QB Joe Flacco no longer on the roster, it appears that the Broncos are comfortable in giving the reins to Lock going forward. The team has done an impressive job of adding offensive weapons to make Lock's transition to full-time starting quarterback more comfortable.

Denver signed former Pro Bowl running back Melvin Gordon from the Los Angeles Chargers and drafted Alabama star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy with the 15th overall pick in the recent NFL Draft.
