The Green Bay Packers want Aaron Rodgers back and are prepared to do just about anything to keep him. But, ultimately, Rodgers' future is up to him. If Rodgers wants to go somewhere else, the Packers will do what they can to get him to his preferred spot. The Denver Broncos tried to trade for Rodgers last offseason and are rumored to be a suitor again, with the hiring of former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as head coach only adding to the intrigue.

Rodgers has made no decision yet on 2022, but ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said he talked to a former Broncos player in Los Angeles leading up to the Super Bowl and got this message:

“I think it's only a matter of time before he ends up in Denver.”

That former Broncos player also told Fowler this notion is “more than a hunch,” so perhaps he knows something. We'll all find out soon enough, as Rodgers himself has said he doesn't plan on lingering too long before making a decision. The franchise tag deadline is March 8 (the Packers are expected to tag Davante Adams), and the expectation is Rodgers will inform Green Bay of a decision before that date.

It makes plenty of sense for Rodgers to return to the Packers given their dominance in the NFC North and all the question marks surrounding the competition in the division. He has also apparently patched things up with the front office after some of the ugly rumors from last offseason.

But after the disastrous playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, perhaps Rodgers would like a change. The Broncos offer up a win-now situation with a talented roster that just needs the big upgrade at quarterback. With the Hackett link front and center, Denver seems to be the likeliest Rodgers destination if he chooses to leave Green Bay.
