After the Green Bay Packers' disappointing finish to the season, the speculation that Aaron Rodgers had played his last game at Lambeau field only grew louder. But it seems as though optimism for a return grows by the day.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the relationship between the Packers and Aaron Rodgers is in “as good a spot as it has been” in a while.

There's still no guarantee that Rodgers stays, but the situation is much better than most expected it to be months ago. If all goes well, Green Bay is reportedly ready to bring out its check book to lock up Rodgers on a financially lucrative deal.

Via Rapoport:

Assuming he stays, Rodgers will need a new deal for the 2022 season, and sources say the Packers are willing to offer him a deal that makes him the highest-paid QB in the NFL on a per year basis — likely a short-term, perhaps two-year deal, with voidable years on the back end to make it work with the cap. That would also allow the team more flexibility to tag wide receiver Davante Adams, along with other offseason moves.

Given the fact that Aaron Rodgers was just named the NFL's most valuable player, it's not surprising that they're willing to pay him the most valuable contract. A rekindled relationship is Green Bay is looking like a serious possibility, but we'll only know for sure in the coming months.
