The Denver Broncos took home a massive win over the Detroit Lions in Week 14. They are only two games behind the first-place Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West and are fighting for a spot in the playoffs. Melvin Gordon played a key role on Sunday but did suffer an injury during the contest.

According to Ian Rapoport, Gordon suffered a sprained thumb, however, it doesn't look like it will affect him. The Broncos utilized a strong one-two punch out of the backfield, as Gordon and Javonte Williams dominated the Lions' defense.

Denver has been a roller coaster of a team this season, but similar to many teams in the AFC, they're in the heat of the postseason race. Although Melvin Gordon is a veteran running back, he has been a phenomenal asset to this Broncos offense.

Javonte Williams has been a beast of his own this year and has the potential to be a valuable every-down running back for the Broncos. However, having Melvin Gordon share the backfield with him has been great for his development. We should see these two take the field in Week 15, as Denver takes on the Cincinnati Bengals.

Although it's been an up and down year, the Broncos control their own fate. They have a tough four-game stretch to cap off the season, but it's a very doable task for this team to make the playoffs. It'll come down to the wire and the coaching staff is thankful to have Melvin Gordon in the lineup to help out.

Look for the Broncos to come out swinging against the Bengals, as it's do-or-die time for this franchise.
