The stars were aligned over the weekend at the PGA's Memorial Pro-Am. The most notable pairing at the event was former Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and star golfer Tiger Woods.

Woods has enjoyed a bit of a resurgence recently as he continues to recover from a back fusion surgery. According to TMZ, Manning likened Woods' situation to the one he endured during the final phase of his playing career in the NFL.

“I can certainly relate,” Manning said … “It's about being flexible, being adaptive.”

“I couldn't throw the ball the same way after my injury, but you learn to use your experience and football intellect. That's what he's doing. He's adjusted his game and his swing and using his experience and using other parts of his body to get some strength and power.”

Manning had been enjoying the most decorated career of any player in NFL history up until he required neck surgery and was forced to miss the entire 2011 campaign. Then the seemingly unthinkable happened when the Colts decided to part ways with him before selecting quarterback Andrew Luck in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Fortunately, it was not the end of Manning's career. Instead, it was more of a rebirth after finding a home with the Broncos. He ultimately wound up putting up the best number of his career in Denver en route to his second Super Bowl victory. Needless to say, just like how football was better when Manning was in uniform, so is golf when a healthy Woods is on the course.
