The Denver Broncos feel like they are close to making the playoffs. In turn, it makes it even more important they make the right choice in the first round this season. The Broncos should also be trying to target someone who can make an impact right away.

This is a loaded draft class for wide receivers and the Broncos are going to have a couple of options for who to select. Laviska Shenault Jr. is often overlooked in this class, but he is the player the Broncos will select.

Why a wide receiver?

Drew Lock showed some flashes of being a really good quarterback. The most important job now for the Broncos is to put good players around him. They already added Melvin Gordon, which will help the offense, but the more weapons the better.

Courtland Sutton had a breakout season in 2019, catching 72 passes for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns. Sutton can be a strong number one, but if they could add another star that would be a great addition.

Why Laviska Shenualt Jr. ?

Shenualt played his college ball with the Colorado Buffaloes. There is no doubt the Broncos are very familiar with him. He finished the 2019 season catching 56 passes for 764 yards and four touchdowns.

Shenualt is 6'2″, 220 pounds and uses his size to his advantage. Sometimes during jump balls, however, he doesn't use his full potential. He isn't afraid to get physical though, and that will help him in the next level.

Shenualt is also a guy who should be able to contribute right now, and that is going to be a key factor in the Broncos decision. Shenualt and Sutton outside is going to be problem for the NFL for years to come.
