In the last few weeks, there has plenty of discussions surrounding All-Pro cornerback Aqib Talib's long-term future with the Denver Broncos. Much of this has concerned the team looking to move him in a trade as his name has constantly been brought up in several different scenarios.

According to Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports Radio AM1340, Talib is reportedly desiring to be released instead of traded while having two different teams in mind with the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.

The 32-year-old has continued to see his name mentioned in various trade rumors that have likely driven to the point where he wants to be released so that he can choose his next stop in his career. Talib is currently in his fifth year of his six-year, $57 million as he set to make $12 million in 2018 and $8 million in 2019. There could be much benefit to the Broncos going the route of cutting him as it would save the team $11 million in cap space this offseason.

This would provide Denver much-needed additional cap space to pursue Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins in free agency. At this moment, they currently have $23 million at their disposal. It could also allow them to make serious offers to other quarterbacks on the open market if Cousins chooses to sign elsewhere.

There had been some recent trade talk about the Patriots being interested in acquiring Talib, who had played with the team with two seasons. Meanwhile, the Rams would give him the opportunity to play under defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who held the same position with the Broncos for two years before joining Los Angeles last offseason.

Throughout Talib's first 10 years in the league, he has established himself as one of the premier players at his position that is backed by five Pro Bowl selections, a First-Team All-Pro nod, and a Second-Team All-Pro nod.
